Job Summary:


We are in search of an ambitious Director of Dietary Services & Registered Dietician that is responsible for the nutritional care program of the facility, evaluations, and recommendations concerning the administrative functions of the Dietary Services Department. 


The Director of Dietary Services & Registered Dietician supervises the Food Service Supervisor and Dietary personnel. Daily contact with co-workers and other hospital personnel, medical staff, patients/residents, and visitors.



Responsibilities:


  • Supervises the Food Service Supervisor and Dietary personnel.

  • Responsible for strict conformance with all applicable accreditation standards (e.g. Hospital, DNV, state, federal) health and safety rules, policies and procedures. 

  • Demonstrates accountability to accept responsibility for personal/professional growth and required certification/licenses. 

  • Develop menu platters and plan menus based on current dietary guidelines.

  • Develop budget proposals and recommend procedures for cost control. 

  • Plan, organize and conduct in-services/educational programs for department staff and hospital staff as required.

  • Evaluate and monitor food services systems, making recommendations that will provide nutritionally adequate quality food. 

  • Plan, layout, design, and determine equipment requirements for food service facility. 

  • Recommend and monitor standards for sanitation, safety, and security. 

  • Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate nutritional care plans and provide follow up; perform Nutritional Assessments/Diet Plans. 

  • Provide dietary consults and counseling with patients regarding selection and procurement of food and meal planning to meet optimum nutrition. 

  • Consult with health care team concerning nutritional care of patients/clients. 

  • Interpret, evaluate, and utilize pertinent current research relating to nutritional care. 

  • Establish department policies and procedures. 

  • Obtain, evaluate, and utilize dietary history information for planning nutritional care. 

  • Calculate nutrient intakes and dietary patterns. 

  • Conduct diet consults as ordered by physicians including out-patient diet education. 

  • Be actively involved in QI programs. 

  • Oversee employee dining services. 

  • Complete MDS quarterly. 

  • Update Care Plans. 

  • Attend Care Plan meetings. 

  • Attend nutrition meetings. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • State licensure or certification required. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or similar area required.

  • Successful completion of an approved Dietetic Internship. 

  • BLS preferred.

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a healthcare food services facility preferred. 

  • Supervisory experience preferred. 

  • Ability to organize time and prioritize assignments under deadlines. 

  • Computer skills a must. 

  • Interpersonal skills a must with co-workers and other hospital personnel, medical staff, patients/residents, and visitors.
