Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced Neuro Joint Spine RN who is deeply committed to patient well-being to join our growing medical team. As an Neuro Joint Spine nurse, you will take care of patients suffering from musculoskeletal malfunctions and diseases. 

It is your responsibility to provide the highest quality of care for patients suffering from bone fractures, arthritis, and a host of other bone and muscle-related problems, as well as those who have just had joint replacement surgeries, and people who suffer from degenerative diseases.

Our ideal Neuro Joint Spine RN candidate functions as an interactive resource in clinical nursing and professional practice. Your duties and responsibilities include help with monitoring neurovascular status, performing external fixation care, casting, and continuous motion therapy. Your ortho spine nurse role can also include helping patients with therapy and assistance for faster recuperation. Moreover, you will serve as a resource, preceptor, mentor, and leader for physicians, professional peers, and other fellow employees.

Responsibilities:

• Work with doctors to perform treatments on patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
• Monitor the patient’s health and general body condition and report changes and improvements to the doctor.
• Take pain prescriptions from the doctors and administer the same to the patients.
• Prepare a pain management schedule for patients based on doctor’s prescriptions to prevent patients from suffering from pain.
• Monitor and quickly attend to any signs of negative reactions to drugs and allergies.
• Educate patients on steps to take to manage pain and how to avoid post-surgical infections.
• Manage patient’s hygiene by assisting with bedpan changes, body cleaning, and diaper changes in some cases.
• Help injured athletes manage and treat pain and get better after injury. Sometimes, orthopedic nurses may also assist with the training of athletes that are just recovering from an injury.
• Assist orthopedic doctors in performing their duties.
• Perform wound dressing on patients with infections.
• Monitor vital signs of patients.
• Help form support groups for patients.
• Help patients improve mobility and functionality by helping them to redesign their personal spaces and recommending gadgets and furniture that help to support the bone structure and promote healing.
• Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Observes and adheres to all corporate compliance requirements and communicates issues as they arise to the appropriate parties.

Requirements:

• RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact,
• Colorado Only: RNs working in Colorado under a multi-state license must obtain their CO RN license within 30 days of establishing residency, i.e., drivers license, register to vote, etc. Compact to Compact. Upon issuance of a new multistate license, the former license is inactivated. For more information visit Colorado Board of Nursing - Compact Licensure
• Nursing Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RN's
• BLS from the American Heart Association required
• NIHSS required within 6 months of hire
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire
• One year experience preferred
• Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
