Job Summary:

Our hospital is in need of a passionate caring Critical Care Technician (CCT) that will provide intensive and specialized medical care to patients under the supervision of our Registered Nurses. A CCT plays an important role in the day-to-day operations of the ICU or ER department by monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, performing diagnostic tests, and providing other vital services as needed.

You will assist the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with training, competence, and skill. The CCT is knowledgeable of and follows all hospital policies and procedures and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, adequately stocked and safe patient environment. You may also perform all unit clerk/clerical duties for the unit.


  • Providing comfort to patients by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, feeding, and dressing.
  • Observing patient behavior to identify signs of changes in physical or psychological status that may require additional medical attention.
  • Collecting data about patient’s current health status, including vital signs, intake and output of fluids, medication administration, lab results, etc.
  • Preparing patients for surgery by washing and disinfecting the surgical site, applying antiseptic solutions, and covering wounds with sterile drapes.
  • Monitoring equipment such as electrocardiographs (EKGs), pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, respiratory rate monitors, temperature probes, and oxygen delivery devices.
  • Maintaining records of patient care activities such as administering medications, recording observations of patient behavior, and preparing reports on patient status.
  • Preparing patients by performing tasks such as cleaning wounds and changing bandages.

  • High School Diploma or GED required – Associates Degree preferred.
  • Active certification/license as a CNA, Patient Care Tech or Medical Assistant in state of practice required - EMT or Paramedic, active certification preferred.
  • Previous experience as a CNA, Certified Medical Assistant, Patient Care Tech, EMT, or Paramedic highly preferred.
  • Acute Care hospital experience highly preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association required.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Must have patience and compassion to work with patients. 
  • Excellent knowledge of patient assistance and care procedures.
  • Working knowledge of relevant equipment (catheters, needles, etc.).
  • Committed to health and safety standards.
