Job Description:

We are currently in need of an experienced OBGYN Technician to assist doctors and nurses during labor and delivery procedures. An OB Tech performs a variety of patient care and clerical duties to assist and support the organization and function of the Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum (LDRP). These include providing assistance during vaginal deliveries, sterilizing equipment, keeping records, and examining patients.

As an OB Tech, you are expected to work with and under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will be responsible for performing both clerical and nursing duties for patients of all ages, within the parameters of the policies of the OB unit. You will interact with physicians, patients, family members, hospital staff, and community agencies in providing basic care. Aside from these, it is also part of your responsibility as an obstetric technician to ensure the cleanliness of the labor and delivery wards.

Our ideal OB Tech candidate will help in ensuring the efficiency in labor and delivery wards by keeping rooms prepared and monitoring patient health. You need to have a basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terms, particularly those related to female anatomy. 

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates professional responsibility in the OB Tech. 
• Maintains confidentiality when interacting with patients, families, personnel, and the public.
• Follow established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs, safety/environment of care programs, and infection control standards.
• Assists RN with patient care, including, but not limited to, vital signs, glucose testing, and Newborn testing.
• Ensures that c-section and LDRP rooms are set up and ready for patient use. This includes having appropriate equipment in the room and setting delivery carts using sterile technique.
• Maintain competency to independently scrub c-sections, including preparing equipment and instruments using sterile technique, performing sponge, and sharp counts with the circulating RN.
• Assist surgeon with gowning and gloving, draping, and throughout the procedure with supplies and instruments.
• Assists in transporting patients. 
• Properly use selected equipment and monitors the patient environment. 
• Set up sterile equipment for delivery. 
• Wash instruments and packages them for sterilization. 
• Perform clerical tasks to assist nursing personnel. 
• Perform daily routine duties, shift census and acuity reports, outpatient census form, and charges. 
• Collect of data from parents and filling out birth certificates information sheet for Medical Records. 
• Complete and witness of the Paternity Declaration form.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• One-year patient care experience preferred, i.e. OB Tech, LPN/LVN, EMT, CNA,
• Medical Assistant or Surgical Tech experience
• Previous experience Scrubbing on C-Sections or Main OR Exp highly preferred 
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Basic computer skills
• High School graduate or GED
• Completion of a Surgical Tech program, preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
• Colorado Surgical Assistant License or Surgical Technician upon hire unless performing Surgical Assistant duties within the scope of another active Colorado license, certification, or registration (required for Colorado employed staff only)
