LOCATION: White Plains, New York

SHIFT: Days

JOB TYPE: Full-Time Permanent



Job Summary:


Supervisor 


·        The supervisor provides direct supervision of the daily operations of the laboratory section and/or area. 

·        The supervisor will oversee and efficiently perform procedures and test as ordered for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. 

·        The supervisor will oversee that the maintenance of the analyzers, quality control, collection of specimens, maintaining of supplies in accordance with standards of practice and established policy and procedure. 

·        The supervisor will provide recommendations and action plans for the improvement of system processes in their section and/or area.


Assistant Supervisor 


·        Supervises all operational and technical aspects of the laboratory during the night shift.

·        Performs bench technologist duties in hematology, chemistry, blood bank and the accessioning/phlebotomy area as required.

·        Responsible for the monthly schedule; in coordination with eve/night coordinator carries out performance reviews and other managerial duties as required.

·        Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:


·        Understands and adheres to the company Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.

·        Ability to apply knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures.

·        Attends staff meetings and in-services as requested/required.

·        Completes annual competency requirements.

·        Demonstrates ability to use all applicable LIS computer options.

·        Completes payroll, monthly statistics, ordering and scheduling as required.

·        Produces work free of technical and clerical errors.

·        Notifies appropriate patient care areas of critical and stat results.

·        Performs and documents preventive maintenance.

·        Performs and documents QC and remedial action.

·        Successfully performs external proficiency testing.

·        Prioritizes workload and assigned tasks.

·        Participates in the evaluation of new assays and instrumentation.

·        Assists with the implementation of new policies, procedures.

·        Training of new employees.

·        Evaluates specimens and test results.

·        Delegates effectively.

·        Ability to resolve interdepartmental issues in a professional manner while prioritizing patient needs.


Performs all other related duties as assigned.




Requirements:


•       State of practice Medical Technologist License required.

•       Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical / Medical Technology or related science with six years of relevant hospital experience required.

•       For Supervisor – Master’s Degree preferred.

•       ASCP or NCA certification preferred.
