Job Summary:

The Palliative Care Registered Nurse (RN) shall maintain a high standard of nursing care. Under the primary supervision of the Palliative Care Coordinator, will develop skills and share responsibility in assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating the holistic care of the patient and their family. The nurse shall, after a period of orientation, carry out care independently, develop expertise in symptom control, develop a high standard of professional and ethical responsibility and acquire teaching skills. The nurse shall work as part of a multi-professional team, reporting to the palliative care coordinator and palliative care medical director.

Requirements:

·      Active RN License within the State of practice.

·      Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing - BSN preferred.

·      BLS certification required.

·      ELNEC training, or equivalent, preferred.

·      Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care required within 1 year of hire if currently not certified.

·      Five (5) years' nursing experience of which two years must have been in hospice or palliative care.
