SPECIALTY UNIT: GI Endoscopy

SHIFT: Days 3 12's: 7a-7:30p or 4 12's: 7:00a-5:30p

JOB TYPE: Full-Time Permanent

Job Summary:

The GI Endoscopy Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for assessing, diagnosing, identifying outcomes, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of patients. Additionally, the GI Endoscopy Registered Nurse role includes directing and supervising nursing care for patients in the gastroenterology setting.

The Staff Registered Nurse, Endoscopy, must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for his/her patients, and may function in the role of charge nurse.  

Responsibilities:

• Answering patient questions and addressing their concerns.
• Observing patient vital signs.
• Sedating patients before procedures.
• Recovering patients after procedures.
• Administering the necessary medication to patients.
• Keeping the patient informed throughout the duration of the procedure.
• Completing all necessary documentation including patient notes and discharge documents.
• Preparing the instruments, equipment, and supplies for the procedure.
• Cleaning and sterilizing equipment before use.
• Provide assistance to doctors throughout the procedure.
• Administering IV drips.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing required
• Current licensure by the State of Texas or from a Compact State if you declare the Compact State your Primary State of Residence required
• Prefer candidates with recent 1+ year Endo experience however if they have been out of that space for the last 2-3 years I would like to see them too. * ACUTE CARE EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
• BSN preferred
• Specialty Certification preferred
• Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS required
• Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS within 90 days of hire/transfer required
