Job Description:

 

We are looking for a caring, dedicated Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Registered Nurse to be responsible for the medical and health care of children. As a Pediatric registered nurse, you will discuss a child's symptoms and medical history, provide initial care, administer prescribed medication, and monitor the patient's progress. Additionally, you will also provide support to families and work with them to address their concerns, fears, problems, and options.

 

Our ideal candidate for the RN - Pediatric position must be able to talk to children and ask questions about their health, especially when they are scared and cannot clearly communicate their problems. Like other pediatric registered nurses, you will be required to perform physical examinations, measure vital statistics, take blood and urine samples, and order diagnostic tests. 

 

To be a successful RN - Pediatric nurse, you should be kind, compassionate, and caring towards children. You should have a broad knowledge of general pediatric nursing care and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the safe delivery and documentation of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Performs responsibilities in five areas of nursing practice utilizing critical thinking, management, problem solving and differentiation of urgency in the role of: clinician, teacher, researcher, leadership and professional development.
  • Responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards subscribed to by American Nursing Association and in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act and other regulatory standards.
  • Work with children and asking questions about their health for diagnosis and documenting patients' symptoms and medical history for the doctor.
  • Uses knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care.
  • Identify changes in children's symptoms and intervening in emergencies.
  • Participate in pain management for children.
  • Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
  • Monitor temperature, pulse, breathing, and blood pressure and keeping accurate records.
  • Evaluate children for signs and symptoms of abuse.
  • Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through excellence in customer service and performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.

Requirements:


  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as an RN in a clinical setting.
  • Active RN license within the State of Florida.
  • Current BLS certifications.
  • Proof of American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) current for a minimum of 90 days after hire date
  • Experience in clinical work as a Pediatric Nurse.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Emotional and mental strength, dedication, and self-motivation.
  • Empathy and the ability to relate to children.
