Job Summary

A Mammography Technologist is a healthcare professional who performs mammography examinations on patients to detect breast abnormalities or diseases. The job duties of a Mammography Technologist may include:

1. Preparing patients for the mammography procedure, explaining the procedure and answering any questions they may have.
2. Positioning patients and adjusting equipment to obtain the best possible images.
3. Administering contrast agents, if necessary.
4. Operating mammography equipment and adjusting settings as needed.
5. Developing film or digital images using specialized equipment.
6. Reviewing images to ensure quality and completeness, and collaborating with radiologists and physicians to interpret the images.
7. Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
8. Monitoring and maintaining equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and that it is properly calibrated.
9. Adhering to safety standards, including radiation safety protocols, and taking appropriate precautions to protect patients and themselves from radiation exposure.
10. Assisting with other diagnostic imaging procedures as needed.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification Required:

1. High School graduate or GED preferred.
2. Graduate of an accredited school of radiology or 10+ years of experience in modality required.
3. Certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
4. Current CPR certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
5. Minimum of 2 years outpatient experience required.
