Job Summary:

Incumbent will demonstrate skill in sterilization, instrumentation, and decontamination procedures. This includes maintaining equipment and supplies as well as maintaining a clean work area.

 Responsibilities:

• Promotes improved quality and improved patient safety in the OR by ensuring the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department. 
• Performs routine tasks relating to the decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment and sterile supplies. 
• Responsible for general operating and monitoring of sterilization equipment. 
• Maintains records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission and OSHA standards. 
• Maintains Certification, and monitors, instructs and mentors non-certified. 
• Facilitates awareness and understanding around what is at stake with patients in the OR. 
• Facilitates the department's preparation of staff to pass survey/regulatory assessments.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in healthcare, business, or other related field.
• Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician required or must achieve within one year of hire.
• Five years’ experience in either Surgery, Sterile and Central Processing, or other related field.
• Minimum 2 years of management experience required
• Must have current CRCST, CBSPD or IAHCSMM Certification
