Job Description:


We are seeking an exceptional and results-oriented Nurse Manager to lead and oversee our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). In this role, you will be responsible for managing the operations of our 24-hour PACU department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care that complies with all regulatory requirements. As the Nurse Manager, you will have the opportunity to drive clinical excellence, foster staff development, and optimize resource utilization.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the 24-hour PACU department across multiple locations, ensuring compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Establish and maintain patient care and service standards that meet the expectations of our members and internal clients.
  • Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and enhance patient care outcomes throughout the continuum of care.
  • Develop and monitor budgets to effectively allocate human and material resources. Identify strategies to reduce costs and enhance the quality of care and services.
  • Determine appropriate staffing levels for the department and establish processes for recruitment, screening, hiring, training, and maintaining competency of all staff members. Foster ongoing staff development and promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Address human resource issues, employee and department safety concerns, and manage risk management matters.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and procedures aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the establishment of clinical standards of care and practice and ensure adherence to fiscal management and quality improvement activities.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four (4) years of clinical nursing experience in the relevant specialty, including at least four (4) years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a Master's Degree in Nursing earned through a direct entry MSN program.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) required at the time of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification.


Additional Requirements:

  • Familiarity with Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • ACLS or PALS certification may be required for specific department positions.
  • National Certification preferred within one (1) year of hire.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of management experience preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in Magnet/shared governance preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience managing in a bargaining environment preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.
