Job Description:

We are looking for a highly organized and level-headed Laboratory Director to ensure the overall management and operation of the laboratory is compliant with regulatory standards, supervises laboratory staff, and manages the laboratory budget.

As a successful Laboratory Director with our facility, you must be able to multi-task and plan. A top-notch Laboratory Director combines their experience in the science field with excellent managerial skills.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and quality control measures to ensure accuracy, precision, and reliability of laboratory results.
• Ensure that the laboratory complies with regulatory standards, such as CLIA, OSHA, and other accrediting bodies.
• Design, research, review, and write format for laboratory manuals. 
• Supervise laboratory personnel, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary action as needed.
• Manage laboratory resources, including budgets, equipment, and supplies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with other departments in the hospital to ensure timely and accurate communication of laboratory results.
• Participate in hospital committees and initiatives related to laboratory services and patient care.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate test utilization and interpretation of laboratory results.
• Oversee laboratory safety and security protocols to ensure the safety of laboratory personnel, patients, and visitors.

• Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, implementing strategies to improve laboratory processes, workflows, and customer service.

Requirements: 

• REQUIRED: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry
• Master's Degree Preferred

License/Certifications:

• REQUIRED: State License (KY) or ASCP Certification 
• REQUIRED: National Certification as a Medical Technologist

Experience:

• 7 years of progressive laboratory management experience is required with complex laboratory operations
• Hospital/ Acute Care experience required 
• Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred 

Additional Information:

• ALL of HCA Lab Directors are required to work the bench if necessary.

• Knowledge of laboratory regulations, policies, and procedures, such as CLIA, OSHA, and CAP.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions based on data and analysis.
