Job Summary:

As a Registered Nurse in our General Surgery department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care during surgical procedures and throughout the perioperative period. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and comfort of our patients while upholding the highest standards of clinical excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care: Provide safe, comprehensive, and patient-centered care to individuals undergoing surgical procedures within the General Surgery department.
  2. Assessment: Conduct thorough patient assessments, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative evaluations, to identify and address the individualized needs of each patient.
  3. Monitoring: Monitor patients during surgery, ensuring their physiological status remains stable, and intervene as necessary to maintain patient safety.
  4. Medication Administration: Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed, ensuring accurate dosing and patient response.
  5. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records, including surgical documentation and progress notes.
  6. Communication: Effectively communicate with the surgical team, patients, and their families to provide updates on the patient's condition and post-operative care instructions.
  7. Collaboration: Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  8. Compliance: Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards at all times.


Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • California Registered Nurse License upon hire
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
  • Institutes of Health Stroke Scale Certificate - NIH Stroke Scale Training Course within 90 days of hire
  • 1 year of nursing experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), IVPS (Intravenous Push and Bolus Medications) certification upon hire
  • Experience in Surgical Services or General Surgery nursing
