Job Description:


We are currently in need of a Registered Nurse First Assist to work alongside our team of medical professionals in the operating room, providing patient care. As an RN First Assist, you must think quickly and stay calm under pressure since you will be working in a high-stress environment.


Moreover, as a Registered Nurse First Assist, you will work with surgeons and fellow perioperative nurses. Hence, you must also have excellent communication skills and be able not only to follow the surgeon’s instructions but also communicate clearly to other members of the surgical team. Additionally, our ideal Registered Nurse First Assist candidate must have the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. You must also follow strict safety protocols to protect themselves and patients. 


Responsibilities:


  • Perform duties during the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
  • Play a hands-on role in surgical procedures by controlling bleeding, suturing incisions, wounds, and intervene if complications arise. 
  • Help develop treatment plans in conjunction with the lead surgeons and then assist in postoperative management. 
  • Perform CPR if a patient's heart stops.
  • Monitor a patient’s vital signs, including heart rate, respiration, and pulse. Alert the physician so when the patient begins to struggle to address the complications.
  • Work in collaboration with the surgeon and other healthcare team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements:


  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as an RN in a clinical setting.
  • Active RN license within the State of practice.
  • Current certifications (variable depending on the facility).
  • Ability to rapidly evaluate and prioritize request of the healthcare team and physicians.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude; excellent teamwork.
  • Ability to multi-task constantly and tolerate interruptions.
  • Good organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Exhibit good customer service skills and friendly.
  • Good communication skills; able to communicate with patients, families, physicians, and multiple healthcare team members.
