JOB TYPE: Full-Time Permanent, 32 hours available


Job Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Nurse Manager to join our dynamic nursing team. If you are a skilled nurse leader with experience in ICU, Med Surg, and Telemetry units, we invite you to apply and become a key part of our healthcare family.


Job Summary:

The Assistant Nurse Manager for Float ICU, Med Surg, and Tele units plays a vital role in managing the day-to-day clinical operations of these units. This leadership position ensures the delivery of the highest quality of patient care, compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence to departmental policies and procedures. The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises a team of nurses, fosters staff development, and collaborates with healthcare providers to optimize patient care across the continuum.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Operations Management: Oversee the daily clinical operations of ICU, Med Surg, and Tele units, including practice standards, staffing, payroll, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement initiatives.
  2. Staff Development: Develop and implement action plans to enhance staff development, mentorship, and professional growth. Supervise a team of approximately 20 - 60+ employees.
  3. Resource Allocation: Monitor and adjust personnel allocation based on evolving patient needs, ensuring optimal patient care while identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  4. Unit Operations: Supervise daily unit operations, including human resources management, safety programs, and risk management to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  5. Quality of Service: Monitor and uphold the quality of service and utilization standards, focusing on patient-centered care and cost-effective utilization of services.
  6. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with healthcare providers outside of the unit to ensure seamless patient care across the care continuum. Research and implement best practice models from other units.
  7. Patient Advocacy: Investigate and address patient and family concerns regarding patient care, ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a charge nurse, preceptor, quality improvement champion, or other related leadership experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • High school diploma OR General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.


Additional Requirements:

  • ACLS, PALS, NRP certification may be required for positions in specific departments.
  • Evidence of training completion as a preceptor or charge nurse.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • ACLS certification strongly preferred.
  • Recent ICU or med-tele experience preferred.
