Job Description:

We are looking for our next CPO who will help us continue our 30-year non-profit and community supported Mission of profoundly changing the experiences of aging, illness, and grief – one family at a timeThis executive level position requires an innovative and energetic leader with the passion, vision and commitment to be the thought leader in the field of philanthropy, community building, and community engagement and education. The ideal candidate will have a measurable track record of longevity, building results-oriented and sustainable relationships and partnerships with key external partners and donors, including other thought leaders, corporate leaders, and others in the community.

The Chief Philanthropy Officer has the key responsibility for development, oversight and coordination of philanthropic efforts for all programs including but not limited to capital campaign, major, annual, and memorial giving, planned giving, endowments, grants, special events or any fundraising efforts, under the supervision of the CEO.


Responsibilities:

  • Donor cultivation
  • Major gifts and planned giving
  • Development and execution of successful fundraising strategy
  • Fundraising events and campaigns
  • Community engagement activities and appeals
  • Grant writing and management
  • Effective team leadership of the Development Department
  • Board and volunteer engagement
  • Representing the organization at community events/public awareness events
  • Requires in-person commitment at our Grand Junction, CO office to be fully embedded in our community.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Communications, or another relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of successful fundraising in non-profit sector.
  • Minimum 4 years of Development Leadership in the non-profit sector.
  • Passion for our non-profit mission and genuine commitment to social impact
  • In depth knowledge of fundraising strategies and techniques, including major gifts, grant writing, corporate partnerships, capital campaigns, and planned giving.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing fundraising activities and donor relations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to craft compelling fundraising appeals and presentations.
  • Familiarity with relevant fundraising software and data bases. Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred but not required.
  • Curiosity and drive to stay informed about current fundraising trends, management and leadership best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop high-performing teams, and set and achieve strategic objectives.
