Job Title: Director of Infection Prevention and Control Program


Job Summary:


As a leading healthcare organization, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Infection Prevention and Control Program. In this key position, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our infection prevention and control program across the entire care continuum. Collaboration with facility leadership teams, compliance with regulatory standards, and ensuring adherence to facility-wide policies are essential aspects of this role.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Uphold organizational policies, principles, and comply with state, federal, and local laws.
  • Direct the management and development of infection prevention and control services/programs across the continuum of care, ensuring consistency and quality throughout all departments.
  • Develop evidence-based interventions to reduce the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) and disease transmission.
  • Provide expert leadership in collaboration with the Sterile Processing Director/Manager to ensure compliance with national standards for sterilization and disinfection processes.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and departments, including but not limited to Employee Health, Nursing, Perioperative, Perinatal, Emergency Services, Urgent Care, and various physician specialties.
  • Manage human resources processes, including supervision and leadership of Infection Prevention staff.
  • Direct compliance with regulatory requirements, investigate disease outbreaks, and report communicable diseases as required.
  • Oversee the development and management of operating budgets, capital expenses, and remodel requirements.
  • Act as the Infection Prevention and Control liaison/consultant for the entire Medical Center or delegate appropriate duties.
  • Direct surveillance activities, monitor infection trends, and develop interventions as needed.
  • Lead research projects and epidemiological investigations of significant infection clusters or communicable disease concerns.
  • Participate in disaster response/mitigation and provide expert review for facility construction/remodels.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience as an Infection Control Professional.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an established infection prevention/control program in an acute care hospital, including minimum two (2) years of program management/supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Science, or a healthcare-related field.
  • Infection Control Certificate.

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of microbiology, laboratory procedures, aseptic technique, and epidemiological techniques.
  • Ability to comprehend and utilize epidemiological/public health data and statistical methods.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, change management, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in leading performance improvement initiatives.
  • Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, environmental health, microbiology, or another public health-related field.
