The ICU Registered Nurse prescribes and coordinates professional nursing care for assigned patients. They carry out these responsibilities independently within the guidelines of accepted nursing practice, medical direction, and hospital policies, procedures, and standards. Relates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with other departments and nursing units; participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading of policies, procedures, and skills of personnel.


The ANA’s standards apply to all nurses in all settings, and additional specialty standards apply to all specialty nurse defining what is a competent or an excellent clinician.   • Must have experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • The client utilizes Allscripts Paragon
  • Must be able to read vital signs and provide injections/vaccinations
  • Must be able and willing to float without hesitation
  • 2-bed unit (a step-down unit nursing position that must float to Med Surge and regular ICU)
  • Patient ratio is 2:1
  • 4 to 6-week orientation before going on to the floor- Hands-On Training
  • The client will give a tour of the unit at interview 
  • Under general supervision, plans directs, and evaluates total nursing care and functions in one unit on a particular shift, in accordance with established philosophy. Relates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with other departments and nursing units; participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading of policies, procedures, and skills of personnel. REQUIREMENTS


  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Experience: One year of nursing experience in the ICU Unit is preferred; one year of medical-surgical nursing experience is required. Telemetry and ICU experience required


  • Required Skills: Current N.H. R.N. license. ACLS Certification is required; PALS Certification is recommended. Rhythm Recognition or Basic Arrhythmia experience is required. PCCN or CCRN Certification is preferred. Ability to learn and adapt. Ability to direct others.
  • NO NEW GRADS
