Job Overview:

Join our team as a Clinical Educator, where you will play a crucial role in promoting professional development. This position involves assessing, prioritizing, and evaluating the educational needs of a clinical area, developing and delivering clinical education programs, and ensuring the competence and professional development of the Patient Care Service (PCS) staff. Essential Responsibilities:

Clinical Education:

  • Develop and deliver educational programs for nurses at various career stages, incorporating principles of adult learning.
  • Assess individual performance in clinical proficiencies for PCS staff and management.
  • Recommend formal action plans for individuals not meeting competency expectations.

Program and Curriculum Development / Evaluation:

  • Design, evaluate, and manage professional development programs based on adult learning principles.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation of educational activities to ensure effectiveness and enhance professional development.
  • Coordinate education plans for new staff orientation, competency validation, and core education for patient population-specific nursing care.

Clinical Practice Standards:

  • Respond to changes in nursing practice and theory, developing programs to support those changes.
  • Conduct research into professional and community practice standards, technology, and clinical innovations for improved patient care.

Clinical Informatics Expert:

  • Leverage the organization for the benefit of nursing practice and improved patient care systems and processes.
  • Analyze clinical workflows to determine current practices and facilitate improvements in nursing practices and processes.

Clinical Practice and Informatics Interface:

  • Stay updated on trends and advances in Nursing and Healthcare Informatics.
  • Consult staff and leadership on clinical expertise, workflow recommendations, and current clinical practices.

Partnerships / Leadership Duties:

  • Participate in interdisciplinary committees to integrate educational activities into clinical care and informatics.
  • Address workflow issues through collaboration with Regional Domains, local Domains, and Cross Functional Domain.
  • Provide leadership for clinical IT enhancements.


  • Investigate, recommend, prioritize, and evaluate clinical risk and correction plans related to clinical education.
  • Monitor, track, and follow up on concerns and issues, escalating patient safety issues related to workflow disruptions.

Strategic Communication:

  • Maintain flexibility while managing multiple roles and responsibilities.
  • Interpret and communicate across multiple disciplines to promote a safe and healthy work environment.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing earned through a direct entry MSN.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • National Certification required within one year of hire.
  • Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, federal, state, and local requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum six (6) months of experience coordinating or managing education program/curriculum design, development, and evaluation/assessment preferred.
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in Nursing preferred.
