Job Description:

We are in search of a Complex Specimen Processor who plays a vital role in our laboratory operations by managing the intake, processing, and distribution of complex specimens. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, organization, and adherence to quality standards to ensure the integrity and accuracy of laboratory testing.




 

Responsibilities:

·        Receive, identify, and label complex specimens according to established procedures and protocols.

·        Verify specimen integrity, including proper identification and labeling, to ensure accurate testing and analysis.

·        Prepare specimens for analysis by centrifugation, aliquoting, and other processing methods as required.

·        Perform data entry and documentation tasks accurately and in a timely manner, including logging specimen information into laboratory information systems.

·        Monitor specimen storage conditions and inventory levels to ensure proper storage and availability for testing.

·        Follow established laboratory safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

·        Collaborate with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals to resolve specimen-related issues and ensure timely delivery of results.

·        Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities, including proficiency testing and equipment maintenance.

·        Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards relevant to specimen processing.

Requirements:

·        Associate degree or certification in medical laboratory science or a related field preferred.

·        1-3 years of experience in specimen processing within a clinical laboratory setting, with experience handling complex specimens preferred.

·        Acute Care Experience Required

·        Strong understanding of laboratory procedures, terminology, and safety practices.

·        Proficiency in using laboratory information systems and basic computer skills.

·        Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

·        Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

·        Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.

·        Demonstrated commitment to quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
