Registered Nurse, Cardiac Surgery and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

Job Description: RN CSICU (Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit)

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to post-operative cardiac surgery patients in the intensive care unit, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing complex medical equipment.
• Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that optimize patient outcomes.
• Perform thorough patient assessments, recognize signs of complications or deterioration, and initiate appropriate interventions in a timely manner.
• Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, recovery expectations, and lifestyle modifications to support long-term health following cardiac surgery.
• Document all patient care activities accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR) to ensure continuity of care and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in ongoing professional development, including attending relevant training sessions and staying current with best practices in cardiac surgery and critical care nursing.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the state nursing board.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an equivalent degree from an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a critical care setting, preferably in a CSICU or other cardiac-focused intensive care unit.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of complex medical equipment, including ventilators, hemodynamic monitors, and intra-aortic balloon pumps.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
