Position Overview

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) for Open Heart (CVOR) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of cardiovascular operating rooms. This individual will coordinate patient care, manage nursing staff, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high standards of patient safety and care throughout the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee daily operations of the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) and ensure efficient workflow.
2. Coordinate care delivery among surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
3. Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff, ensuring compliance with best practices and hospital policies.
4. Monitor and maintain the highest level of patient safety protocols during cardiac and thoracic surgeries.
5. Assist with staff scheduling, resource allocation, and ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet surgical demands.
6. Engage in quality improvement initiatives, participate in clinical audits, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Registered Nurse (RN) with an active state license.
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN or advanced clinical certifications preferred.
3. Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) or related clinical setting.
4. Demonstrated leadership experience in a nursing supervisory or coordinator role.
5. BLS and ACLS certifications are required; CCRN or CNOR certifications are highly desirable.
6. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment.
