Job Summary:
Are you passionate about helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery? We are seeking a dedicated Chemical Dependency Counselor to join our healthcare team. As a Chemical Dependency Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive treatment to patients struggling with substance use and addiction. Your expertise and compassion will make a significant impact on their journey to recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations to determine the nature and severity of substance abuse disorders in patients.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on the unique needs and goals of each patient, utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Provide individual counseling sessions to clients, addressing their addiction issues, underlying causes, and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions, offering a safe and supportive environment for clients to share their experiences and learn from one another.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure coordinated and holistic care for patients.
- Educate patients and their families about addiction, recovery strategies, relapse prevention, and community resources available to support long-term sobriety.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Stay current with advancements in the field of chemical dependency treatment through continuous professional development and training opportunities.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and clinical supervision sessions to enhance clinical skills and promote best practices.

Requirements:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) - fluent for this role clinically and there will be some assessment in their interview.
- Bachelor's Degree with 3 years relevant chemical dependency counseling work experience.
- LCDC II or be licensure eligible.
- Must have knowledge and experience working with adolescents and alcohol/drug assessment and case management
- Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations and APA standards related to client treatment, patient rights and client/patient confidentiality.
- Previous clinical responsibilities include psychological testing, diagnosis, crisis intervention, brief individual and group psychotherapy.
- Strong knowledge of substance abuse disorders, addiction treatment modalities, and evidence-based therapies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish a therapeutic alliance with clients.
- Empathy, compassion, and non-judgmental approach in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines governing the practice of chemical dependency counseling.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other software applications for documentation and data management.
