Position Summary

The Supervisor, Chemistry/Immunology is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operations of the Chemistry and Immunology laboratories. This includes ensuring quality testing, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical laboratory science and possess excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management:
  • Oversee and manage laboratory staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Develop and implement departmental goals, objectives, and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including CLIA, CAP, and NYSDOH.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of clinical chemistry and immunology principles, methodologies, and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and optimize test performance, turnaround time, and quality control.
  • Stay current with advancements in laboratory technology and industry best practices.
  • Quality Assurance and Improvement:
  • Implement and maintain a robust quality assurance program to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Analyze quality control data and identify trends or issues requiring corrective action.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of new laboratory services.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including CLIA, CAP, and NYSDOH.
  • Stay informed of regulatory changes and implement necessary updates.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation.


Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
  • Master's degree in Clinical Chemistry preferred.
  • ASCP or NCA certification required.
  • Current NYS License or eligibility required.
  • Minimum of six years of relevant experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
