LABOR & DELIVERY RN
JOB TYPE: Full-Time Permanent
Seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during the labor and delivery process. In this vital role, you will use your expertise to ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and baby while delivering personalized, patient-centered care. Your ability to provide support, monitor progress, and respond effectively to any complications will be essential in creating a positive childbirth experience. This role requires a versatile nurse with strong L&D experience, who will also float to Med-Surg when needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Delivers direct patient care throughout the childbirth process, including prenatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
- Monitors and documents maternal and fetal vital signs to assess health and progress.
- Assists with pain management techniques.
- Performs initial assessments of newborns to ensure their health and well-being.
- Educates new mothers and families on postpartum care, newborn care, and other techniques.
- Collaborates closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience.
- Mother/Baby care experience.
- Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) experience preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Current RN Licensure in the state of Wyoming.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) – required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – preferred; must be completed within 3 months of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – preferred; must be completed within 3 months of hire.
- STABLE Certification (Sugar & Safe Care, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support) – preferred; must be completed within 3 months of hire.
- Comprehensive knowledge to monitor and assess maternal and fetal well-being.
- Ability to provide empathetic support in high-stress situations.
- Familiarity with creating and managing discharge plans for new mothers and babies.
- Knowledgeable in prioritizing patient care and managing emergencies effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with healthcare teams and support patients and their families.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
