Job Title: Registered Nurse - Clinical Coordinator

Position Summary:
This critical role provides clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient patient care delivery across all hospital departments. The Clinical Coordinator plays a key role in optimizing patient flow, minimizing delays, and supporting the achievement of hospital-wide throughput goals
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Flow Management:
- Proactively monitor and manage patient flow across all clinical areas, with a strong focus on the Emergency Department, PACU, and Cardiac Cath Lab.
- Oversee patient care for all admitted patients awaiting a bed, including:
- Verifying accurate admission orders in EPIC-Grand Central.
- Conducting face-to-face rounds on all admitted patients waiting for a bed.
- Ensuring adequate staffing coverage for hold patients in outpatient beds.
- Supervising the care team assigned to hold patients.
Clinical Support:
- Provide clinical and technical support to nursing staff across all departments.
- Assist staff in understanding and adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with Nurse Managers/Directors of Nursing to identify and resolve clinical practice and personnel issues.
Staffing and Scheduling:
- Assist in ensuring appropriate staffing levels on assigned shifts and subsequent shifts.
- Collaborate with Nurse Managers/Directors of Nursing to schedule staff based on budgeted staffing plans and department needs.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and accreditation standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement projects.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain open and effective communication with charge nurses/managers regarding unit admissions, transfers, and discharge issues.
- Collaborate with admitting to ensure appropriate patient placement.
- Foster strong interdepartmental collaboration to optimize patient flow.
Emergency Response:
- Support the facilitation and coordination of emergency responses in CAMS Procedural & Non-procedural areas.
- Respond to all codes (RRT, Code Blue, etc.) and support staff during emergencies.
- Participate in fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.
Professional Development:
- Participate in educational programs and activities to maintain current knowledge and expertise in nursing practice.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current New York registration.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Minimum five years of recent clinical nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Current CPR/ACLS/PALS certifications required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems, specifically EPIC-Grand Central.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
