Job Description:


Infusion Nurses serve as a crucial part of a patient’s infusion therapy care team, coordinating the treatment and services the patient receives. They typically work in centers where patients receive infusion treatments. In outpatient care centers the infusion nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients with their support team. The Infusion Nurses will work with the Oncology and Hematology service to educate patients, mix, and administer some treatments. An Infusion Nurse Works closely with individual patients and often becomes a constant for the patient, which can provide comfort and consistency by communicating patient history, current assessment findings, status, and response to care.


Responsibilities:


Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Administering medications through an IV line

·        Selecting and managing the appropriate equipment

·        Monitoring patients throughout the IV infusion process, such as vital signs, side effects adverse reactions, anaphylaxis and respond appropriately.

·        Observing patients for signs of infection or other complications to intervene early with treatment.

·        Performing antibiotic, steroid, electrolyte, and vitamin infusions, as well as blood transfusions.

·        Supplements advanced nursing care through the performance of treatments and procedures, such as chemotherapy as indicated.

  • Collaborates with the physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, and other members of the healthcare team.

Physical Requirements


  • Must complete an accredited LVN/LPN nursing program
  • License must stay up to date
  • Current BLS Certifications
  • Infusion Certified Nurse or Indicated experienced or documented competency
  • Continuing education is required for licensure and recommended for specific infusion knowledge.

·        Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity

·        The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

·        Specific frequently vision abilities required by this job include:
