Job Overview
A Dental Laboratory Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a dental laboratory. This includes managing lab staff, ensuring the quality and accuracy of dental prosthetics and appliances, and coordinating with dentists and other healthcare professionals. The manager must ensure that all lab procedures adhere to industry standards and regulations, and that the lab operates efficiently and effectively. An effective Dental Laboratory Manager combines technical expertise with strong leadership skills to maintain high standards of patient care and lab productivity. This lab is a small full service lab of about 12 people. There focus is top quality for the patient! Work closely and have great relationships with dentist in the area. This person will go out in the field and maintain these relationships.
Dental Laboratory Manager Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage the daily operations of the dental laboratory
- Supervise and train laboratory technicians and staff
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of dental prosthetics and appliances
- Coordinate with dentists and other healthcare professionals to meet patient needs
- Maintain and update laboratory records and documentation
- Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Implement and oversee laboratory safety protocols
- Develop and manage the laboratory budget
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within the lab
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in dental technology and materials
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to lab staff
- Ensure timely delivery of dental products to clients
- Develop and implement quality control procedures
Dental Laboratory Manager Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Dental Technology or related field
- Certification from a recognized dental laboratory technology program
- Several years of experience working in a dental laboratory
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with dental laboratory software and technology
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
- Experience with quality control and assurance processes
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues
- Project management experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Formal training in dental laboratory technology
- Experience in a dental laboratory setting
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to manage and supervise staff
- Knowledge of dental materials and prosthetics
- Good communication skills
- Understanding of health and safety protocols
- Basic computer skills
