Breast Health Registered Nurse Navigator | RN
Are you a compassionate and skilled Breast Health Nurse Navigator looking for a fulfilling role? We are seeking a dedicated professional to guide breast health patients through their healthcare journey. This full-time, day position (Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM or 9 AM – 5 PM) offers a competitive salary range of $98,000 – $140,000+.
In this vital role, you will act as a primary point of contact for patients, helping them navigate the healthcare system, overcome access barriers, and connect with essential resources. You’ll build strong relationships with service providers and contribute to a supportive environment for breast cancer patients.
What You’ll Do:
- Patient Guidance: Initiate communication with patients after suspicious mammograms or positive findings, guiding them through appointments, understanding diagnoses, and exploring treatment options, including clinical trials.
- Resource Development: Create and maintain a comprehensive database of breast health and breast cancer programs, services, and educational materials.
- Psychosocial Support: Assess patient psychosocial needs and connect them with community and social support services, offering counseling to help them cope with their diagnosis.
- Collaboration & Education: Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare professionals, educate practitioners on the navigator’s role, and build relationships with other patient navigators.
- Financial & Practical Assistance: Help patients find ways to cover treatment costs, prescriptions, and living expenses, and assist with arranging transportation when needed.
- Program Development: Contribute to the development of new programs addressing community needs and emerging issues in breast health and cancer.
- Community Engagement: Represent White Plains Hospital in area coalitions and provide resources to non-profit organizations.
- Peer Support: Create, implement, and evaluate a peer-to-peer support network for newly diagnosed patients.
What You’ll Bring:
- Education: BSN required, along with an RN license and Breast Imaging Navigator certification.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of professional experience in a related field, with healthcare experience strongly preferred.
- Skills: Experience with statistical data analysis, grant writing, and program evaluation is a plus. Knowledge of Spanish is also beneficial.
- Core Competencies: Teamwork, adaptability, strong communication, problem-solving skills, planning and organizing, attention to detail, sound judgment, and stress tolerance.
Education & Experience
- BSN and RN Certification: You’ll need a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Breast Imaging Navigator Certification: This certification is a must-have for the role.
- Professional Experience: We’re looking for at least three years of professional experience in a related field, with a strong preference for those with healthcare experience.
