Job Title: Director of Surgical Services
Location: Kansas City, MO
Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift

Position Overview:
The Director of Surgical Services leads perioperative operations across Pre-Op, PACU, Operating Rooms, and Sterile Processing. Reporting directly to the COO, this role oversees three department managers and a surgical team of 90–100 clinical professionals. You’ll be responsible for clinical outcomes, volume management, operational strategy, patient experience, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality & Patient Safety
- Drive evidence-based practices to improve safety and outcomes
- Monitor quality metrics, throughput, and regulatory compliance
- Ensure clinical standards and nursing competencies align with best practices
Operational Oversight
- Manage staffing, scheduling, labor costs, and productivity
- Lead OR efficiency, equipment readiness, and volume forecasting
- Support expansion of service lines and technology integration
Leadership & Team Development
- Coach and mentor department managers and charge nurses
- Build a culture of engagement, collaboration, and accountability
- Partner with physicians, anesthesia, and executive leadership to enhance performance
Financial Management
- Participate in budget planning and manage department-level finances
- Identify cost containment and performance improvement opportunities
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a Director of Surgical Services OR
- Strong Manager of Surgical Services background in a large acute-care facility
- Bachelor’s degree required (BSN preferred)
- Master’s degree preferred
Additional Details:
- You’ll manage 3 managers (SPD, OR, Pre-Op/PACU) and lead a total team of 90–100
- Strong support from executive leadership
- OR volumes currently 400–600/month with opportunity for significant growth
