Director of Emergency Services – Kansas City, MO
Relocation Assistance: Case by Case
We are seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services to lead a high-volume, fast-paced Emergency Department at a major acute care hospital in Kansas City.
This facility is home to a Level I Trauma Center, comprehensive stroke and cardiac programs, and one of the busiest freestanding emergency departments in the system.
Role Overview:
The Director of Emergency Services provides leadership and oversight of all emergency and trauma care operations. This includes strategic planning, fiscal management, staff development, and driving clinical excellence to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, proven operational success, and a track record of improving key performance metrics.
Key Highlights:
- 25-bed ED with rapid care and overflow capacity (12 additional spaces)
- Average 125 patients per day at main ED + 105/day at FSER
- Comprehensive stroke, cardiac, and burn programs
- Oversees ~115 FTEs; reports directly to the CNO
- Recently promoted leadership created this opening – strong growth potential
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of recent acute care Director-level ED leadership (or strong Manager with proven success running daily operations at Director level)
- Bachelor’s Degree required (BSN preferred; Master’s highly preferred)
- Strong metrics, performance improvement, and operational outcomes background
