Position Summary
The Director of Pharmacy provides strategic and operational leadership for the pharmacy department, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant pharmaceutical care. This role is responsible for aligning departmental operations with organizational goals while fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and professional growth. The Director of Pharmacy plays a key role in advancing patient care and supporting community health outcomes. Offering the opportunity to lead pharmacy services in a Joint Commission–accredited hospital committed to delivering high-quality patient care to a growing community. The position plays a key role in advancing safe, effective medication management and supporting community health.
The Utah based role is situated in a known outdoor paradise conveniently located between Salt Lake City and Denver – offering exceptional outdoor recreation and a high quality of life, offering year-round recreation, including fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, camping, water sports, skiing, and rafting.
Key Responsibilities
A successful Director of Pharmacy will:
- Direct departmental activities and allocate resources to meet organizational and operational objectives
- Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental goals, policies, and standards in alignment with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements
- Oversee pharmacy operations, including patient care delivery, information systems, service levels, and issue resolution to ensure quality and performance standards
- Plan and manage staffing activities, including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and continuing education
- Prepare, monitor, and manage the departmental budget to ensure financial accountability and compliance
- Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits
- Foster a work environment that supports professional development, engagement, and continuous improvement
- Integrate evidence-based practices into pharmacy operations and clinical protocols
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA and other applicable laws
- Manage staff by assigning, scheduling, supervising, and reviewing work; ensure quality standards are consistently met
- Lead personnel actions including hiring, training, development, performance reviews, corrective action, and termination as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Current Utah Pharmacy License or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited pharmacy school
Preferred:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
