Position Summary
The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and administering individualized physical therapy treatment programs designed to reduce pain, restore functional mobility, prevent disability, and promote overall patient wellness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations using medical history, observation, and objective and subjective assessments.
- Develop individualized plans of care tailored to patient learning styles, therapeutic needs, and psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual considerations.
- Establish measurable, functional treatment goals in collaboration with patients and family members.
- Provide therapeutic interventions addressing a wide range of conditions, including musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, and developmental impairments.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, treatment records, charges, re-evaluations, and discharge summaries in accordance with departmental standards.
- Assist with scheduling adjustments to meet changing caseload demands and ensure efficient department operations.
- Supervise assigned treatment team members and collaborate regularly with Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) to review patient progress and care goals.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams regarding treatment plans, patient progress, complications, and care recommendations.
- Promote a safe and clean treatment environment by following established health, safety, and infection control protocols.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives and professional development activities, including training, mentoring, in-service education, and program leadership.
- Maintain continuing education requirements and professional licensure in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Active Physical Therapist license in the state of practice — Required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR/AED) certification — Required
