Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
Position Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant supports patient rehabilitation by implementing physical therapy treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist. This role focuses on reducing pain, restoring function, preventing disability, and promoting overall health and wellness through therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Deliver physical therapy treatments in accordance with established plans of care.
- Adapt treatment approaches to meet each patient’s learning style and therapeutic needs while considering psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual factors.
- Provide interventions addressing musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, and developmental conditions.
- Document patient progress, treatment sessions, and outcomes accurately and timely per hospital guidelines.
- Collaborate regularly with the Physical Therapist to review patient goals, progress, and care adjustments.
- Assist with scheduling and caseload management as needed.
- Contribute to departmental performance through mentoring, in-services, training initiatives, and performance improvement efforts.
- Maintain professional development through continuing education and licensure requirements.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams regarding patient progress and care needs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Licenses & Certifications (Required)
- Active South Carolina Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
