Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
Location: Tyler, TX
Setting: Inpatient and/or Outpatient
Job Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides patient-centered physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This role supports the delivery of rehabilitative care to help patients improve mobility, strength, function, and overall quality of life in inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans.
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, functional mobility training, and modalities as prescribed.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and report progress, concerns, or changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, mobility techniques, and safety precautions.
- Accurately document treatments, patient progress, and outcomes in accordance with professional standards and regulations.
- Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment and follow infection control practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to support continuity of care.
- Comply with all applicable state regulations, professional standards, and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications
Experience & Skills
- Prior experience in inpatient, outpatient, or rehabilitation settings preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physical therapy techniques and patient care principles.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with patients of varying ages and functional abilities.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
Licensure & Certification
- Active Texas Physical Therapist Assistant license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
