Registered Dietitian
Position Summary
The Clinical Dietitian provides comprehensive nutritional care across the lifespan through assessment, education, and medical nutrition therapy. This role primarily supports inpatient populations while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes. The Dietitian also contributes to quality improvement initiatives, clinical education, and occasional outpatient or community-based nutrition services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and develop individualized medical nutrition therapy plans for patients of all ages
- Provide nutrition education to patients and families to support treatment goals and long-term health
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate patient-centered nutrition care
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to clinical quality improvement initiatives
- Deliver ongoing monitoring and follow-up for nutrition therapy effectiveness
- Support dietetic intern education and clinical precepting
- Provide occasional outpatient nutrition services or community education as needed
- Maintain professional appearance, patient-centered communication, and service excellence standards
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotation as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Credentialing
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or related field (for individuals registered prior to January 1, 2024)
- Master’s degree in Nutrition or related field and completion of an ACEND-accredited dietetic internship (for individuals registered after January 1, 2024)
Licensure
- Active licensure through the South Carolina Panel for Dietetics required
Experience
- No prior clinical experience required (new graduates welcome)
