Director of Revenue Cycle – Patient Accounting

Compensation
- Salary Range: $100,00 – $135,000 (based on experience)
- Relocation Assistance: Up to $10,000 for eligible candidates (outside 71-mile radius)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Director of Revenue Cycle – Patient Accounting to lead and optimize all aspects of hospital and professional billing operations. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving financial performance, improving revenue cycle efficiency, and ensuring compliance across patient accounting functions.
You will oversee end-to-end revenue cycle operations, leveraging Epic systems and advanced automation tools to enhance billing accuracy, reduce denials, and accelerate cash collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all patient accounting functions including hospital billing (HB), professional billing (PB), claims processing, and accounts receivable management
- Oversee Epic-based workflows including claim edits, remittance processing, and work queue management
- Drive performance improvements across key revenue cycle metrics (AR days, denial rates, clean claim rate, cash collections)
- Implement and optimize automation tools (clearinghouse integrations, auto-posting, batch processing)
- Partner with IT, compliance, and clinical teams to resolve billing issues and improve workflows
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of managers and supervisors
- Oversee Epic training initiatives and system enhancements, including AI-driven solutions
- Ensure compliance with CMS regulations and payer requirements
- Manage departmental budget and identify ROI opportunities within revenue cycle operations
Required:
- 8+ years of experience in hospital and professional billing (HB & PB) within a healthcare setting
- Strong experience with Epic Revenue Cycle systems (including implementation and optimization)
- Proven leadership experience at the Director level or above
- Deep understanding of revenue cycle operations, claims management, and AR optimization
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
- Experience with Epic AI or advanced automation solutions
- Track record of driving measurable improvements in revenue cycle performance
