Overview
This role is responsible for the full operational, clinical, and financial performance of perioperative services, including oversight of surgical services teams and leadership of department managers.
This is a hands-on operational leadership role focused on driving OR efficiency, improving patient outcomes, strengthening physician relationships, and ensuring financial performance across the department.
The Director will partner closely with executive leadership and physicians to optimize surgical throughput, resource utilization, and overall perioperative performance.
Key Responsibilities;
Operational & Strategic Leadership
- Lead and execute short- and long-term strategies to improve OR throughput, case volume, and operational efficiency
- Translate organizational goals into department-level execution plans
- Monitor performance metrics and implement course corrections to drive results
Financial & Resource Management
- Own department budget, including labor, supply chain, and cost controls
- Analyze financial performance and implement strategies to improve margin and efficiency
- Ensure appropriate staffing models aligned with surgical demand
Clinical Quality & Regulatory Oversight
- Maintain accountability for clinical quality, patient safety, and regulatory readiness
- Oversee performance improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with all standards
- Lead preparation for surveys and ongoing regulatory requirements
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership to managers and frontline leadership teams
- Coach and develop leaders in operations, financial management, and change execution
- Drive accountability across teams for performance, engagement, and outcomes
Physician & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians to support efficient OR utilization and collaboration
- Address and resolve physician and staff concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Partner cross-functionally to improve processes that impact surgical services
Patient Experience & Service Excellence
- Respond to and resolve patient and family concerns
- Ensure a consistent focus on service quality and patient satisfaction

Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- BSN required, MSN preferred
- 5+ years of nursing leadership experience
- 2+ years of perioperative (OR) experience required
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Budget and financial oversight
- Team leadership and development
- Operational performance improvement
