Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health

A respected hospital system in Brooklyn, New York is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health to lead inpatient psychiatric services for a specialized pediatric population. This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced nurse leader with a strong background in hospital-based behavioral health and experience caring for infants, children, and young families.
This role will oversee daily operations, clinical quality, regulatory compliance, patient experience, and staff performance while ensuring exceptional care delivery for children ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years of age.

What You’ll Do
Lead Pediatric Behavioral Health Operations
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the pediatric behavioral health unit
- Provide leadership and accountability for staffing, workflow, and patient care delivery
- Ensure a safe, therapeutic, and family-centered environment for infants and young children
- Coordinate admissions, discharges, and interdisciplinary treatment planning
Drive Clinical Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support readiness for surveys, audits, and inspections
- Monitor patient outcomes, quality indicators, and patient satisfaction metrics
- Lead performance improvement initiatives and implement evidence-based best practices
Build & Develop High-Performing Teams
- Supervise, coach, and develop nursing and support staff
- Foster a culture of accountability, compassion, and collaboration
- Support continuing education and professional development
- Promote strong communication across nursing, physicians, therapists, and leadership teams
Manage Resources & Department Performance
- Assist with scheduling, budgeting, supply management, and staffing plans
- Review operational data and prepare reports as needed
- Utilize benchmarks and quality tools to improve efficiency and care outcomes
What We’re Looking For
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 5 years of psychiatric clinical experience
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership or management role
- Must have experience managing a psychiatric unit within a hospital setting
- Minimum 2 years of formal experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years (paid or unpaid experience considered)
Preferred Experience
- Pediatric behavioral health or child psychiatry experience
- Inpatient pediatric nursing experience
- Experience leading interdisciplinary teams in an acute care setting
Required Skills

Education & Credentials
Required
- BSN from an accredited nursing program
- Active New York Registered Nurse License
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- ACLS
- Crisis Prevention / Management Certification
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field
