Hospital Laboratory Director
Full-Time | Days | No Weekends
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $100,000 – $140,000
- Sign-On Bonus: $15,000
- Annual Incentive Bonus: Up to 17.5%
- Relocation assistance available on a case-by-case basis
A respected acute care hospital is seeking an experienced Hospital Laboratory Director to lead all laboratory operations, drive quality outcomes, ensure regulatory compliance, and build a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for all laboratory services.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies including CAP, Joint Commission, CLIA, FDA, and CMS.
- Oversee staffing, hiring, onboarding, competency assessments, training, and performance management.
- Mentor and develop team members through coaching, accountability, and recognition.
- Manage departmental budgets, resource utilization, and financial performance.
- Prepare monthly operational and performance reports.
- Implement policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Build strong partnerships with hospital leadership, physicians, vendors, and support departments.
- Drive service excellence, patient satisfaction, and continuous process improvement.
- Promote clear communication, teamwork, and a culture of accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field required.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- National certification as a Medical Technologist required.
- State laboratory licensure required where applicable.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive laboratory leadership experience in complex laboratory operations.
- Prior leadership and team management experience required.
- Hospital clinical laboratory experience strongly preferred.
