The responsibilities of the Mammography Tech include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performs mammographic procedures in a timely manner on all patient types as prescribed by physicians; coordinates cases with co-workers in a productive manner.
- Performs quality control on equipment prior to first patient use each day to assure optimum imaging; performs required quality tests as scheduled to comply with ACR and state regulations.
- Assists in the proper operation of equipment through proper handling, reporting of repairs, and with quality control tests.
- Maintains a professional departmental environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
- Assures all clerical procedures are performed for each patient, including processing charges, interpretation of films, report generation, and permanent filing of the medical records.
- Assures the proper use of radiation safety, Hospital safety, and universal precautions during the performance of one’s assignments.
- Adheres to safety practices, reports accidents/hazards and maintains equipment as outlined in hospital policies.
