Surgery Manager- Overland Park, KS
Full Time | Days | No Weekends
On-Call as Needed
The Manager ensures high-quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the daily operations, staffing, and overall function of the Operating Room department. This leader monitors and evaluates nursing care delivery in accordance with established policies and procedures while holding staff accountable for quality outcomes and operational excellence in support of facility goals.
The Manager must demonstrate the clinical knowledge and leadership skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population served. This includes understanding age-specific care needs, growth and development principles, and the ability to assess and interpret patient information to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
Responsibilities
- Oversees daily operations of the Operating Room, including OR scheduling, staffing, productivity management, and premium labor utilization
- Maintains efficient surgical flow using staff, equipment, and supplies appropriately
- Oversees monthly staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage
- Acts as a strong steward of resources through supply management and process improvement initiatives
- Analyzes and reports statistical data related to perioperative services
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives and ensures compliance with regulatory standards
- Maintains risk management best practices for OR and Surgical Services
- Assists physicians with procedures in the operating room as needed and ensures compliance with AORN standards, sterility practices, surgical counts, and patient safety protocols
- Serves as a liaison for patients’ families and support systems regarding communication and coordination of care
- Creates and maintains a positive work environment that supports high employee, physician, and patient satisfaction
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required; BSN preferred
- BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
- Current RN license in applicable state(s) or active compact license
- Minimum 3 years of recent hospital-based surgery experience required
- Minimum 3 years of recent leadership experience as Charge RN, Supervisor, or OR Manager required
- Strong robotics and orthopedic experience preferred
