An Executive Surgical Services Opportunity That Demands Excellence

This is not a role for the faint of heart — and it was not designed to be. This is a Vice President-level opportunity to lead a world-class surgical services program at a 500+ bed Level II Trauma Center in the Roanoke, Virginia market. You will oversee a comprehensive, high-volume surgical platform that includes 11 Main ORs, 2 CVORs, 3 endo suites, and a cutting-edge robotics program featuring 3 da Vinci systems and 2 Mako systems — performing 600–700 cases per month across General, GYN, Neuro, Spine, Cardiovascular, Bariatric, Orthopedics, Surgical Oncology, Urology, and ENT service lines.

If you are a metrics-driven, people-first surgical services executive with a track record of measurable outcomes, this is your stage.

What You’ll Do

As Vice President of Surgical Services you will provide executive leadership across quality, operations, people, growth, and finance for the entire surgical services department. Responsibilities include cultivating a superior clinical identity by implementing evidence-based practices that advance patient safety and quality outcomes, managing clinical practice variation to drive efficiency, effectiveness, and cost savings, ensuring full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and nursing standards that meet patient and family needs, leading volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning to ensure efficient throughput, attracting, developing, and retaining top surgical talent through coaching, mentorship, and a culture of recognition and accountability, collaborating with the administrative team and physicians to enhance existing service lines and develop new offerings, participating in annual budget planning and monitoring departmental financial performance against established targets, managing labor effectively including position control, scheduling, productivity, and premium pay utilization, and identifying cost reduction opportunities and implementing measurable savings initiatives.
