Cardiovascular (ECHO) Sonographer
Location: Farmington, NM (Relocation & Travel Restrictions Apply)

Shift: Day Shift (with call rotation)
Job Summary
The Cardiovascular (ECHO) Sonographer operates as a critical member of the Cardiopulmonary Specialty Services team within a 194-bed, Level 3 Trauma facility. This role is responsible for performing high-quality, non-invasive adult and pediatric echocardiograms to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions. Utilizing advanced imaging technology within a Cerner EHR environment, the incumbent ensures patient safety, analytical accuracy, and strong clinical collaboration across all age groups.
Core Responsibilities
- Diagnostic Cardiac Imaging: Perform comprehensive adult echocardiograms (ECHO) utilizing state-of-the-art GE Vivid E95 equipment, ensuring optimal image quality, precise measurements, and anatomical accuracy.
- Patient Care & Safety: Manage a diverse patient population spanning all age groups (neonatal/pediatric through geriatric). Educate patients and families on procedures, review clinical histories, and monitor patient comfort throughout the exam.
- Technical Reporting: Synthesize and document accurate technical findings, preliminary calculations, and digital images within the Cerner electronic health record system for final physician interpretation.
- On-Call & Scheduling: Adhere to scheduled day shifts, participating in a required on-call rotation operating every 5th week (including every 5th weekend).
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work seamlessly alongside cardiologists, nursing staff, and medical directors to communicate critical findings and coordinate urgent or emergent imaging needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Credentials: * Active Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential via ARDMS OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential via CCI.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon application.
- Experience: * Minimum of two (2) years of dedicated acute care experience in a cardiac ultrasound environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Adult ECHO required; experience in Pediatric ECHO is highly preferred.
- Licensure: Open to out-of-state candidates who do not currently hold a New Mexico or Compact license, provided proper licensure is secured prior to the official start date.
- Geographic Requirement: This position is strictly open to candidates currently residing more than 100 miles outside of the facility’s location.
