Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) – Nocturnist
Loveland, Colorado | Full-Time Nights
A leading trauma and acute care surgery program is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team as a full-time Nocturnist. This position offers the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity surgical environment, providing advanced overnight care to trauma and emergency general surgery patients.
The ideal candidate will have prior trauma surgery experience or completion of a surgical fellowship and be comfortable managing complex surgical patients in a fast-paced setting.
Schedule
- Full-time nights
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Position Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive trauma and acute care surgery coverage during overnight hours
- Evaluate and manage trauma admissions and emergency general surgery patients
- Perform patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and interpret diagnostic studies
- Assist with trauma resuscitations, bedside procedures, and operative care
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR
- Manage multiple complex clinical situations while practicing with a high degree of autonomy
- Support quality, safety, and performance initiatives within the Trauma Surgery service line
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary: $140,000 – $180,000 based on experience
- Up to $10,000 annual quality incentive bonus

Required
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Master’s degree from an accredited NP or PA program
- Active and unrestricted Colorado license or eligibility to obtain
- Current BLS certification
- Eligible for DEA registration and Medicare/Medicaid enrollment
- No sanctions or exclusions from HHS/OIG or GSA
Nurse Practitioner Requirements
- Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP, AGACNP, or equivalent)
Physician Assistant Requirements
- Current NCCPA certification (PA-C)
Preferred
- Minimum two (2) years of Trauma Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, or Emergency General Surgery experience
- Completion of a Surgical Fellowship
- Clean malpractice and licensure history
