Sterile Compounding Pharmacist
Location: Austin, TX
We are seeking an experienced Sterile Compounding Pharmacist to help establish and lead a new sterile compounding laboratory. This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist with strong sterile compounding expertise to play a key role in developing workflows, quality systems, and regulatory compliance while delivering high-quality, customized medications.
Responsibilities
- Verify and approve sterile compounded prescriptions for accuracy and safety
- Supervise sterile compounding technicians and ensure USP <797> compliance
- Compound sterile preparations using aseptic technique
- Review formulations, calculations, compatibility, stability, and beyond-use dating
- Verify batch records and approve final product release
- Develop and maintain sterile compounding SOPs and quality documentation
- Oversee environmental monitoring and cleanroom quality programs
- Support process validation, equipment qualification, and regulatory readiness
- Provide clinical consultation to patients and prescribers
- Collaborate with the pharmacy team to improve workflows and maintain compliance
Qualifications
- Active Texas Pharmacist license in good standing
- Sterile compounding experience with strong knowledge of USP <797>
- Experience compounding sterile medications from raw active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs)
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday-Friday
- Rotating Saturdays (half-days)
