Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Nurse Practitioner (Neurology)

Salary Range: $90,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
Schedule: Monday through Friday

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join a growing neurology care team providing both outpatient and inpatient clinical services. In this role, the Nurse Practitioner will manage patients presenting with a wide variety of neurological disorders. Working alongside attending neurologists and an interprofessional clinical team, the successful candidate will conduct comprehensive neurological assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, manage ongoing treatment plans, and participate in a supportive environment that values mentorship and clinical education.
Core Responsibilities
- Clinical Assessments: Facilitate new patient consultations, record comprehensive medical histories, and perform thorough physical and neurological examinations.
- Diagnostics & Interpretation: Order appropriate diagnostic tests (including laboratory studies, EEGs, MRIs, sleep studies, and EMG/NCS) and review/interpret results to establish accurate diagnoses.
- Treatment & Prescribing: Formulate individualized treatment plans, manage and prescribe medications, and make interdisciplinary referrals to other healthcare specialists as needed.
- Physician Collaboration: Collaborate closely with attending neurologists to review complex cases, optimize patient care protocols, and coordinate inpatient/outpatient management.
- Patient Education & Continuity: Provide comprehensive education to patients and families regarding conditions, treatment compliance, test results, and long-term care plans.
- Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant patient records within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, adhering strictly to HIPAA and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree or higher in Nursing (MSN/DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Licensure & Certifications:
- Active (or eligible) Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Illinois with prescriptive authority.
- Board Certification as a Family, Adult-Gerontology, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (FNP, AGACNP, AGPCNP).
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical medical experience preferred, with a focus on neurology or internal medicine; ambitious new graduates with relevant clinical rotations are also encouraged to apply.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, and clinical documentation standards.
- Proficiency with EHR platforms and digital health systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a team-oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
