Job Title: Admin Director of Surgical Services
Location: Kansas City, MO
Department: Surgical Services / Perioperative Operations
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and vision-driven Admin Director of Surgical Services to provide administrative oversight, strategic direction, and operational leadership across our perioperative departments. The Admin Director will lead clinical quality initiatives, manage departmental budgeting and resource allocation, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and drive growth while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Oversee the daily operations and strategic planning of the Surgical Services department, including Operating Rooms (OR), Pre-Op/PACU, Sterile Processing (SPD), and associated perioperative units.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage operating and capital budgets, optimize resource utilization, monitor staffing productivity, and identify cost-saving initiatives.
- Quality & Compliance: Direct patient safety, clinical quality, and risk management programs. Ensure full compliance with TJC, OSHA, CMS, and other regulatory standards.
- Staff Engagement & Development: Recruit, mentor, and retain nursing leadership and clinical staff. Promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and teamwork.
- Physician & Interdisciplinary Relations: Partner closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and hospital executive leadership to optimize OR utilization, scheduling, and service line growth.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required
- Master’s Degree (MSN, MHA, or MBA) Preferred
- Licensure & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State Name] (or Compact RN License)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) or Certified Nurse Operating Room Director (NE-BC/NEA-BC) preferred
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive acute care Surgical Services clinical experience required.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of executive or director-level leadership experience in perioperative/surgical services required.
