Radiology Technologist
The Radiology Technologist performs a variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures while supporting other imaging technologists as needed and helping maintain smooth, efficient patient flow.
The technologist should be flexible and willing to work other shifts or locations as needed. This role also includes basic equipment troubleshooting, participation in quality assurance activities, and resolving issues related to image processing and the image archiving system.
The technologist is expected to stay current with continuing education, safety standards, and technical advances within their scope of practice while maintaining required imaging competencies.
Responsibilities
- Perform radiographic examinations and procedures within established scope of practice and documented competencies.
- Provide high-quality patient care while adapting to each patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, age-specific, and developmental needs.
- Assist with patient throughput and maintain an efficient workflow within the imaging department.
- Collaborate with management, coworkers, radiologists, referring physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Follow applicable state and federal regulations, hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Ensure completed examinations are properly scanned and stored in PACS.
- Follow PACS downtime procedures and escalate problems to the appropriate administrator when necessary.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and report malfunctions to management and/or Biomedical personnel.
- Participate in quality assurance, safety initiatives, continuing education, and technical advancements.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work other shifts and/or locations when needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program or an approved equivalent.
Experience:
- 1 year of hospital experience preferred.
- Basic computer experience required.
Licensure & Certifications:
- ARRT (R) required.
- Appropriate state radiologic technologist license required:
- Texas: MRT through TMB
- Louisiana: LRT (R) or (F) through LSRTBE
- New Mexico: RRT through MIRTP/NMED
- BLS required.
