Position Overview
We are seeking an autonomous, clinical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our night-shift nursing team in an acute care setting. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care using the full nursing process, manage both routine and complex clinical situations, and effectively delegate tasks to support unit workflow. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team to advance patient outcomes while maintaining adherence to professional standards and evidence-based practice.
Core Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Clinical Care: Execute the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation) for assigned patients in compliance with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
- Medication & Treatment Administration: Administer prescribed medications, fluids, and therapeutic treatments per protocol; track effectiveness and monitor for adverse reactions or side effects.
- Holistic Support: Address complex physical, psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their support systems.
- Clinical Delegation & Leadership: Manage shift dynamics by assigning duties and delegating care tasks effectively to support staff.
- Documentation & Education: Maintain precise, timely EMR records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes. Assess learning barriers and provide targeted health education to patients and family members.
- Onboarding & Compliance: Complete orientation requirements, preceptor-guided competency validations (including Med-Surg/specialty-specific validations), and ongoing annual competency evaluations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience:
- 1+ year of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred. New graduates or experienced nurses transitioning specialties are eligible for onboarding and residency pathways.
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in state of practice or compact/multi-state license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA or Red Cross required at hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required (see grace period timeline below).
